Program orientation for students new to the program: I will complete the required program orientation.
- New Freshmen tot he program, preferably with their family, must complete Debt Project orientation on an Enrollment Orientation Day. If unable to attend Enrollment Orientation Day, new students and families must attend an optional orientation session on Zoom or on-campus if offered.
- Current or transfer students new to the program must attend an orientation session schedule on campus or Zoom session.
2. Employment: I will be responsible for securing employment at some point during breaks or the school year to participate in this program. Employment is verified via submitted paystubs or proof of earnings.
3. Attendance: This is a participation-based program. I will be required to attend 2 out of 3 financial education seminar sessions each semester. I understand to remain in the program, I must meet the following attendance requirements:
- I will register for a Debt Project seminar session that best fits my school and extracurricular activities schedule for each semester.
- I commit to attending my scheduled seminar sessions and will plan my work schedule and other activities accordingly.
- I am fully aware that only 1 excused or unexcused absence will be allowed per semester.
4. Match Funds: McPherson College Debt Project Match Funds will be applied to my student accounts as these funds are considered a scholarship based on my participation, earnings, and payments toward my student bill.
- I will submit my proof of earnings (paystubs or other documentation) electronically by designated deadlines via an online form available in my Debt Project course or the
Debt Project page on Bulldog Connect.
DO NOT submit duplicate paystubs/proof of earnings.
- Off-campus paystubs – I am required to submit paystubs or proof of earnings for verification for any off-campus jobs or internships. (To avoid duplicate submissions, I will submit paystubs as soon as I receive them.)
- Campus jobs – DO NOT submit campus paystubs. Program administration will process a monthly payroll report for my earnings.
- I will be honest when submitting paystubs or proof of earnings. I will accurately report the total Net Pay of the paystubs. I understand that inaccurate entries will be considered fraudulent behavior, and I will be removed from the program. Entries will be regularly audited.
- I understand that my match funds may affect my loan eligibility and may require adjustments during the school year. I may be required to meet with the Financial Aid office to resolve any changes to my financial aid.
- Debt Project Match Funds are calculated by total net pay from my paystubs or proof of earnings and cross-referenced with my total payments toward my student bill, then the verified amount is multiplied by the $0.25 match. The maximum eligible match per academic year is $5,000.00.
- I can review my Debt Project Match Funds on Bulldog connect by going to: Student Center > Scroll down to Student Accounts > Click green “Consent to electronic statements” button > Click red “View PDF” to view your statement with current balance. You may also view your Debt Project Match Funds via the financial aid portal.
- Debt Project Match Funds are applied to my account on or around the 15th of the month if an eligible match was calculated.
- In the event I withdraw or exit the college, Debt Project Match Funds are not refundable.
5. Payments: I understand that if I have a balance due on my McPherson College student account, I am required to setup a payment plan and pay my bill by the 15th of the month. I understand that I may incur accrued interest or late fees on my account if I fail to pay my bill by the due date. For questions about payments and payment plans. I will contact the Business Office at studentbilling@mcpherson.edu or visit them in-person at Campus Commons, 2nd floor.
6. Confidentiality: I understand that the information shared within the program is personal. I will respect my peers, mentors, and program administration by keeping shared information confidential, unless given specific permission to share.
7. Shared Information: I understand that program administration and mentors are mandatory reporters, which means they are required to disclose any concerns or reports of any imminent safety or health concerns to the institution’s Title IX Coordinator.
8. Opt-Out: I understand that I may opt-out of the program at any time and will contact debtproject@mcpherson.edu to notify program administration of my intent to leave the program. By leaving the program, I understand that I will no longer receive the match funds on submitted payments from the date at which I opted out.
